Project Status

June 2024

This website will be updated on a monthly basis with construction progress, photos, and any activities that may impact the area (such as additional lane closures, excessive noise activities, and extended work hours).

Due to the nature of construction, some disruptions may not be known a full month in advance, but we will do our best to keep the neighbors and community at-large informed as much as possible.

Construction activities will take place during normal working hours (6:30 am to 4:00 pm), Monday through Saturday.

Upcoming Milestones

Phase 1 of the Courts Complex Addition and Renovations project is continuing to make good progress. This phase includes preserving and renovating the historic Levy Opera House and demolishing the current Levy Annex to construct a new 58,000 SF General District Courthouse.

The installation of the structural steel framing is substantially complete, with the final portion that connects the new Annex to the existing Levy Opera House set to be complete in the next few weeks. The 1st-floor concrete slab-on-metal-deck was placed on 5/1, with the 2nd-floor, roof, and remaining basement slab being placed over the next few weeks. Due to the timing requirements associated with concrete, these pours will most likely start early in the morning, around 5:00 am, so there may be some construction noise occurring earlier than usual on those days.

Meanwhile, at the Levy Opera House , installation of the metal roof should start in May, pending the completion of some final pre-installation coordination. The restoration of the exterior brickwork and replacement of the windows are expected to continue through May.

Outside the building, new domestic water line work near Park Street started at the end of April and is expected to be complete during the first week of May. Scaffolding for the exterior wall installation of the new Levy Annex should start to go up in early to mid-May.

Phase 1 of the County Courts Complex Addition and Renovations project is expected to achieve substantial completion in early 2025.

The following traffic pattern changes are currently in effect:

Sidewalks: East High Street, Park Street, East Jefferson Street

Parking Spaces: East Jefferson Street, Park Street, High Street

Water service at 300 Park Street and 0 Court Square will be temporarily shut off during the domestic water line work, approximate date is Tuesday, 4/30/24.
